Miaz Brothers Roberto (b. 1965) and Renato (b. 1968) Miaz were born in Milan, Italy. Both studied art and European design and modelled their education on the training of Renaissance artists. Their first exhibition took place in 1996 at Viafarini Gallery, Milan. After years of creative projects for brands such as Adidas, Swatch and Nike, they lived in New York and Paris before returning to painting.
The brothers are known for their blurred, out-of-focus portraits in acrylic, based on Old Master compositions. The image never fully resolves — the viewer completes the face from memory. Winners of the Arte Laguna Prize for painting (2011) and the Amposta Museum of Contemporary Art International Biennial Prize (2010).
