Regina Giménez (b. 1966, Barcelona, Spain) is a Spanish painter and graphic artist who lives and works in Barcelona. Her practice spans painting, collage, mixed media, printmaking and textile design, and is characterised by the reuse of obsolete graphic representations such as old maps, diagrams, school charts and architectural images. Working halfway between the real and the imaginary, she turns motifs such as globes, boats, lighthouses and the architecture of almost abstract landscapes into quiet, contemplative compositions that combine photographic precision with handcrafted techniques. She won first prize at the Premi Sala Parés in Barcelona in 1988 and 1995, the Ricard Camí prize of Caixa de Terrassa in 2001 and the first prize of the Art Biennial of the Diputació de Tarragona in 2010, and was selected for the Premio Ángel de Pintura in 2007. Her solo exhibitions include “Símbolos Convencionales” at the Museu d’Art Modern in Tarragona (2012), “L’architecture d’aujourd’hui” at The Green Parrot in Barcelona (2015), “Adoptar otra naturaleza” at Ana Mas Projects in Barcelona (2017) and “El sol i la taula” at Can Palauet in Mataró (2018). Her work has also been included in group exhibitions such as “Materia Primera” at Fabra i Coats in Barcelona (2017). Her works are held in collections including MUSAC in León, the Fundació Vila Casas, the Museu d’Art Modern de Tarragona and the “la Caixa” collection. The untitled painting (2014), offered by TUMO Gallery, is executed in acrylic and oil on canvas and measures 115 × 100 cm.
