Collection: Amadou Opa Bathily

b. 1985, Mali

Bathily is a graduate of the National Institute of Arts and the Conservatory of Multimedia Arts and Crafts, Balla Fasséké Kouyaté. At a very young age, he worked at the Atelier Miria art restoration workshop where he came into contact with various materials, including metal, and learned processing techniques.

The artist is renowned for his extraordinary ability to compose pieces using leather, metal, and recycled materials, creating the illusion of lightness and plasticity.

His art allows him to capture the poetry of everyday life, its fragility, and temporality. Most of the paintings are inspired by the traditional leather costumes of Donzo Ton – hunters who possess special abilities and balance intelligence with wisdom.
