S. Sowatey lives and creates in Accra. The artist combines tendencies of expressionism and abstractionism. His art is inspired by a sense of unity - daily family environment, neighborly community relationships, common hobbies, and rituals. A difficult childhood and a tragic family history lead the artist to portray women and children optimistically. A significant impetus for the artist to create was the advice and appreciation of his teachers, renowned artists Ablade Glover and Amoako Boafo. In 2019, S. Sowatey's works were exhibited at the Omanye House gallery in Accra.
