Obou Gbais (Painter Obou) (b. 1992) – a contemporary artist from Ivory Coast.

Under the guidance of the artist Pascal Konan, in 2019 O. Gbais graduated from the art school in Abidjan. In 2017, his works were exhibited at TART gallery in Zurich, later – at Rotonde des Arts and Art-Time galleries in Abidjan. Since 2020, the artist has been participating in various art projects in France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Germany. In 2002, in Africa, O. Gbais experienced the cruelty of war, so far exploring the fates of war victims in his art. The main motif of his paintings is crowds of people; these are people still living in the ruins of Africa in the 21st century. The artist's compositions partly conceal the dark side of the characters, the chaos of the ruins, violence, attacks, and pain, but a keen observer can discern it in O. Gbais's works.
