New York-based artist Nick Darmstaedter (b. 1988) creates artworks that are not tied to a single medium or material. He is known for his active participation in the New York-based artist group The Still House Group, founded in 2007 by Isaac Brest and Alex Perweiler. Like his peers in Still House, Darmstaedter often makes work using found objects; he claims that collecting and sorting is an essential part of his practice, in which chance plays a significant role. His works are often not "readymades" but transformations that emphasise the physical properties and original forms of materials.
