In his latest acrylic paintings, Kpe Innocent reduces the human body to elementary forms. The artist, based in Accra, Ghana, transforms hands, bellies, and heads into cylinders and geometric shapes, depicted with minimal black, white, and pastel color palettes. Occupying vast negative spaces, the figures have room to "stand and breathe," while paired scenes draw greater attention to the constructed anatomy.
