Jurgis Mikševičius (1923–2014) was a Lithuanian artist whose career developed mainly in Australia while maintaining strong European influences. Born in Šiauliai, he studied in Berlin and at Darmstadt’s Technical University, where Bauhaus principles shaped his artistic foundation. After emigrating to Australia in 1948, he became a prominent figure in the local art scene, co-founding the Baltic artists’ group Six Directions. His early works feature cubist still lifes influenced by Cézanne and Picasso, while later landscapes and symbolic compositions reflect spiritual themes inspired by travels to India. In 2023, 77 of his works were donated to the Lithuanian National Museum of Art and exhibited in Vilnius.
