This work is not a domestic scene, but a mystical ritual of the Aymara community. The central glowing object (a sacred vessel or a fire altar) serves as a spiritual axis, around which the gathered figures depict a sacred connection with Pachamama (Mother Earth).
The red ponchos worn by the women and the monumental silhouettes of the men create a closed, sacred circle. Here, J. Rimša masterfully employs expressive, sculptural brushstrokes to convey not an external image, but the inner spiritual strength of the Indigenous people. The shadows on the faces and the vibrant color palette emphasize the archaic solemnity and dignity of existence.
