Cristina de Miguel Born in 1987 in Seville, Spain. Lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. She received her BFA from the University of Seville (2010) and her MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute, New York (2013). Her work has been shown by JD Malat, Allouche Benias, Fredericks & Freiser and V1 Gallery.
Combining acrylic and oil sticks, de Miguel builds impasto surfaces with an almost sculptural quality. The materials merge into a characteristic melting effect that amplifies the speed and dynamism of her figures. Baby Man is a typical example of her grotesque, energetic characters.
