Cleon Peterson
Born in 1973 in Seattle, USA. Lives and works in Los Angeles. He studied at Cornish College of the Arts and Otis College of Art and Design and worked with Shepard Fairey (Obey Giant). Peterson has painted large-scale murals in Paris, Copenhagen and other cities and is equally present in street art and gallery contexts.

His black silhouettes on red or white grounds recall ancient Greek vase painting. The recurring themes are violence, power, policing and chaos. There Is a Law is one of his most recognisable compositions, addressing police violence and the force of authority — this is a unique painting on canvas.
