Bathsheba, daughter of Eliam, was the wife of King David and the mother of King Solomon. She was also the former wife of Uriah the Hittite, one of David's famous warriors. Her name, as given in the Book of Chronicles as "Bathsua," means either the seventh daughter or daughter of an oath. She is best known from the biblical narrative in which she was summoned by King David after he saw her bathing and desired her.
