Collection: WHERE EDEN WAS LAST SEEN | exhibition

Samuel Semako Vittu (b. 1991, Nigeria) solo exhibition presents a series of anthropomorphic paintings in which human and animal forms intertwine. Through these hybrid figures, the artist explores the theme of forced migration caused by climate change—displacement resulting from environmental collapse, food insecurity, and rising floods.

These works evoke more than just the loss of a home—they speak to the erosion of memory, tradition, and cultural identity. Where Eden Was Last Seen is a reflection on fragile landscapes—both physical and emotional—and the quiet disappearance of a once-familiar world.

Samuel Semako Vittu is one of the winners of the 2025 Tumo Gallery Open Call for exhibitions.
