Collection: Theo Bardsley | ECHOES OF THE ROOM | exhibition

Theo Bardsley (b. 1997, London, UK) presents a series of paintings in his solo exhibition “Echoes of the Room”, exploring the boundaries between private and public worlds, traces of human presence, and the relationship between memory and space.

In his works, the artist creates a subtle tension between the human figure and its surroundings, where traces of the past remain even after a person has left. Drawing on personal experiences and observations from London, Morocco, and Vilnius, Bardsley brings together intimate situations with brief, chance encounters and fleeting impressions of passers-by.

Alongside figurative works, the exhibition also features paintings in which the human figure is absent. Here, a person’s presence is suggested through barely perceptible details—a shadow in a window, cigarette smoke, or an empty space. These motifs become traces of presence, evoking something that has just happened or has already receded into the past.

From 24 August, Theo Bardsley will be artist-in-residence at TUMO Gallery in Vilnius. New works created during the residency will also become part of the exhibition “Echoes of the Room”.
