Laust Højgaard (b. 1989) is a Danish painter who lives and works in Svendborg. He studied at the Design Academy in Odense and the Drawing Academy in Viborg, held the solo show “MASS MOMENTUM” at Collaborations in Copenhagen and has shown at the CAN Art Fair. In his layered oil and acrylic paintings, angular, exaggerated figures emerge from geometric colour fields, where mythology meets pop and urban culture with humour and distortion.

Laust Højgaard (b. 1989) is a Danish painter who lives and works in Svendborg, Denmark. He studied at the Design Academy in Odense and the Drawing Academy in Viborg, and holds a bachelor’s degree in visual communication from the Danish School of Media and Journalism. His background in drawing and graphic design is visible in paintings that combine classical draughtsmanship with a graphic sensibility. Working in oil and acrylic, often on several canvases at once, he builds up layered, textured surfaces through successive applications of paint. His compositions are populated by angular, exaggerated figures – “quirky misfits” – emerging from abstract, geometric colour fields. Mythology meets pop and urban culture in his pictures, which are marked by humour, distortion and close attention to detail. His exhibitions include the solo show “MASS MOMENTUM” (2024–2025) at the Copenhagen gallery Collaborations, and his work has been presented at the CAN Art Fair. The acrylic painting “Wheelie” (2022), offered by TUMO Gallery, reflects his characteristic mix of playful figuration and graphic structure.
