Collection: Dalia Kasčiūnaitė
Dalia Kasčiūnaitė was born in 1947 in Vilnius. In 1972, she obtained a degree in painting at the State Art Institute, where her painting teachers were Algirdas Petrulis, Silvestras Džiaukštas, and Jonas Švažas. She is a member of the artists' group "1."
In the artist's works, there are both vibrant areas of bright colors and precise handiwork that connects space with surface. With this authentic style, the Lithuanian painting classicist stands out not only from her compatriot abstractionists, who are known for either impasto weights or minimalist reduction, but also from the European trend of poetic, lyrical abstraction, to which she could conditionally belong due to her emotional use of color.
Dalia Kasčiūnaitė was awarded the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts in 2000.
Her works can be found in the collections of the Lithuanian Art Museum, the National M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, the Modern Art Center, as well as in private collections in Lithuania and abroad.
