Bill Keating (b. 1932) is an American sculptor known for abstract, geometric and kinetic sculpture. His work is associated with the mid-century modernist tradition in American sculpture. He worked mainly in polished aluminium and bronze, including gilt bronze, sometimes mounting his pieces on marble or Lucite bases. His sculptures are characterised by flowing, curving and interlocking forms that suggest movement, with titles such as “Natural Curves”, “Interchange” and “Rhythm”. Most of his documented works date from the 1970s and 1980s, with pieces recorded into the early 2000s. His sculptures appear regularly on the secondary market through auction houses and dealers of modernist design. The aluminium sculpture “Fly” (1975), offered by TUMO Gallery, is a characteristic example of his polished abstract forms from this period.
