Antwan Horfee (b. 1983, Paris, France) is a French painter who lives and works in Paris. He first became known through graffiti and street art before developing a studio-based practice shown in galleries and institutions. In 2011 he graduated from the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, having received the school’s jury award in 2010. His paintings combine figurative and abstract elements, often with a critical, humorous view of the contemporary art world. Spray paint remains central to his technique, carrying the speed and gestural energy of work made outdoors into large canvases. In 2016 he took part in the Somerset House residency in London. He has exhibited internationally, including at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and the Lyon Biennale in 2019, and with galleries such as Ceysson & Bénétière, Nino Mier Gallery and Ruttkowski;68. His work is held in public collections including the Centre national des arts plastiques (CNAP) and the Fonds d’art contemporain – Paris Collections. The painting “Ebay John Collage” (2021), acrylic on canvas, offered by TUMO Gallery, reflects his characteristic mix of cartoon-like figures, collage logic and loose abstraction.
