Collection: Amanda Baldwin
Amanda Baldwin (b. 1984) is an American painter who earned her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012 and has since exhibited widely in New York, gaining acclaim for her fresh take on time-honoured genres. In her still lifes and landscapes, fruit, vessels and plants become collage-like compositions of luminous colour, graphic pattern and skewed perspective, poised between abstraction and figuration.
Amanda Baldwin (b. 1984, USA) is an American painter whose still lifes and landscapes recast the familiar with luminous colour, graphic patterns and skewed perspectives. Moving between abstraction and figuration, her depictions of everyday objects – fruit, vessels, plants – suggest the layered effect of collage. She received her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2012 and has since exhibited widely in New York, earning acclaim for her reinterpretation of time-honoured genres. Her paintings can engage with both hyperrealism and Surrealism, mixing flatness with depth and blending painterly strokes with surfaces reminiscent of digital painting. Baldwin captures the essence of objects while turning them into playful, almost theatrical compositions. Her painting “Triangle Tetrad” (2021) was shown in the exhibition “Nature Morte” at The Hole gallery in New York.
