Allison Zuckerman

Allison Zuckerman (b. 1990, USA) subverts art-historical depictions of women in her exuberant, large-scale works, rich in painterly and pop-cultural references. She applies acrylic paint over digital collages that bring together imagery from the Old Masters, Roy Lichtenstein, Disney cartoons, pixelated computer screens and contemporary celebrity culture. The result is a hybrid of painting and digital image in which classical beauties are fragmented, reassembled and given a new, self-confident voice. Zuckerman holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2017 she was named artist-in-residence at the Rubell Museum in Miami, a turning point in her career. Her work has since been exhibited in New York, Miami, London and Brussels. She has also collaborated with the worlds of fashion and music, designing handbags for Tod’s, album art for Charli XCX and a collaboration with Moschino. Her sculptural edition “Monolithic Beauty” (2022) translates her collaged painted figures into bronze and mixed media.

allison-zuckerman-usa-monolithic-beauty-2022-22-30-bronze-and-mixed-media-36x41-4x18-9
Allison Zuckerman (USA) | Monolithic Beauty, 2022, (22/30) | Bronze and mixed media, painting, 36x41.4x18.9

Printed with the artist's signature and numbered 'Allison Zuckerman 22/30' on the underside

Allison Zuckerman (b. 1990) subverts art historical depictions of women in her exuberant large-scale canvases, which are rife with painterly and pop cultural references.
